As plans for the new Cambridge Mosque building move forward, we enter our Ramadan 2011 appeal with some very specific objectives:
The architects have told us that the Cambridge Mosque needs 350,000 bricks for its new building. Our goal this Ramadan is to raise enough money to buy all the bricks necessary for the construction of our new mosque facility. Each brick costs only £1.40 making it easy for every one of us to help not only make this mosque a reality but to actually be a part of the building itself. In supporting the appeal this year, the bricks you donate will long stand as a sadaqa jariyya, a continuing charity on your behalf and a testament to the community that built the first purpose built mosque in Cambridge…brick by brick.
In order to reach this goal, so many of us across the country and the world for that matter are banding together to raise funds for this necessary and important cause. All of us, in our near and far corners of the world can contribute bricks towards the first purpose built mosque in Cambridge.

Pledge 500 Bricks
With your own personalised JustGiving page linked to the Cambridge Mosque is Moving, you can easily ask family, friends, neighbours and colleagues to help you meet your goal. No donation is too small and every contribution will go towards the Brick By Brick appeal. As an added incentive, UK tax payers qualify for gift aid adding that little bit more to every donation.
Donate 5 or 10 Bricks a Month
In addition to pledging larger amounts of bricks it is also possible to give more gradually over the course of a year or two rather than all at once. In signing up for a monthly direct debit you will be able to donate your bricks for little more than the cost of a couple of cups of coffee per month. Instead of spending £7 elsewhere you will be buying 5 bricks for the Cambridge Mosque move every month! And for £14 a month you could give 10 bricks every month – a sadaqa that will long outlive all of us who contributed.
Once again, we will be hosting a LIVE APPEAL on Channel S on the evening of Friday August 26th. In the next few days, we will posting more details on how to get involved in our televised appeal and donate on the night.
